Local politics in the week from May 5 to 11
May begins with six municipal meetings:
Tuesday, May 6,
The special meeting of the Audit Committee will begin at 4 p.m. in the meeting room of Haus Löwenstein. The only public item on the agenda is the adjustment of the value limits for direct contracts when awarding public contracts.
Directly afterwards - at the same venue - the meeting of the Finance Committee will begin at 5 pm. On the agenda are the business plan for the 2025/26 season, the provisional business plan for the 2026/27 season of Stadttheater and Musikdirektion Aachen and the construction of a new allotment site on Sonnenscheinstraße. There will also be an oral report on the opportunities and risks for the budget.
Wednesday, May 7,
The main committee will meet at 4 p.m. in the meeting room of Aachen City Hall. In addition to the coordination of municipal development policy, the committee will discuss pop-up measures around the Haus der Neugier & the Altes Kurhaus as well as the adjustment of the value limits for direct contracts when awarding public contracts.
The adjustment of the value limits for direct contracts will also be discussed by the Aachen City Council at 5 p.m. in the meeting room of the City Hall. The application for the Rhine-Ruhr Olympic and Paralympic Games and the business plans of the Stadttheater and Musikdirektion Aachen for the next two seasons will also be discussed.
Thursday, May 8,
At the Culture and Theatre Operations Committee, the repertoire and concert schedule for the 2025/26 season will be presented by the municipal theater and music directorate. There will also be a status report on Stadtglühen 2025 and the new version of the fee schedule for the Route Charlemagne, the Ludwig Forum for International Art and the Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum. The meeting starts at 5 p.m. in room 207 of the Mozartstraße administration building
The planning committee deals with the concept procedure for the development of the Haaren Ortsmitte municipal properties. Furthermore, the result of the workshop procedure for project development - Mariabrunnstraße / Weberstraße is presented. Another topic is the construction decision for the OGS extension and the canteen of the Montessori community elementary school in Mataréstraße. The meeting will also take place at 5 p.m. in the meeting room of Aachen Town Hall.
