Europe on our doorstep
Europe is closer than many people think. In North Rhine-Westphalia, the European Union influences our everyday lives in many different ways - be it through subsidies, environmental standards or the freedom to travel to other EU member states. But how does the EU actually work on the ground and what role do citizens play?
An online event on Wednesday, April 2 at 6 p.m. will provide exciting insights into the work of the EU in North Rhine-Westphalia. Representatives from politics and civil society will show how the EU works on the ground, what local European work looks like and what opportunities there are for citizens to get involved.
Annika Mainka will be among those taking part in the event. As an EU local councillor, she is a member of an EU Commission project aimed at networking local politicians at EU level and improving cooperation at local level. Participants will also include representatives of the board of the Young European Federalists NRW e.V.
Questions from the audience are welcome. Further information and free registration
The event is organized by the Europe Direct Centres in North Rhine-Westphalia together with the Regional Representation of the EU Commission in Bonn and the Europa-Punkt Bonn.
