Local politics in the week from March 24 to 30

In addition to a public meeting of the Citizens' Forum, there will also be three meetings of district councils in the next week of local politics.

Tuesday, March 25
The meeting of the Committee for the Environment and Climate Protection begins at 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Aachen Town Hall. The agenda includes the "Electricity" grid expansion plan for the years 2024 to 2025, an agreement on financial contributions for tree planting and a status report on an agency for climate and sustainability.

The public meeting of the Citizens' Forum is scheduled for 6 pm in the Kurpark-Terrassen on Dammstraße. Three citizens' motions will be discussed there: a motion to close Grachtstraße between Indeweg and Krauthausen, another to improve parking for people with walking difficulties and older people in Aachen and a third to establish parking and stopping zones for care and delivery services throughout the city.

Wednesday, March 26
The Aachen-Kornelimünster / Walheim district council will meet at 5 p.m. in the meeting room of the associated district office on Schulberg. An application for funding to expand car sharing services, a widening of the sidewalk on Napoleonsberg and the repair of the listed bridge over the Iter in the Eisenhütte area are among the other topics on the agenda.

The Aachen-Brand district council will also meet at 5 p.m. in the local district office on Paul-Küpper-Platz. Among other things, the district council will be discussing the installation of drinking fountains for Aachen-Brand, the development plan "Im Ginster / Expansion of commercial area" and the regulatory ordinance on keeping sales outlets open on Sundays for the year 2025.

The meeting of the Integration Council starts at 5 p.m. in the council meeting room. Three of the topics: the development of the number of extremist crimes in Aachen, the "Festival of Diversity" 2025 and various integration projects.

The meeting of the Aachen-Eilendorf district council at 5.30 p.m. in the district office on Heinrich-Thomas-Platz will bring the local political week to a close. The district council will discuss, for example, the relocation of the SV Eilendorf and Arminia Eilendorf sports grounds to the Deltourserb development site. Other topics include a status report on municipal construction projects, in particular the Montessori school, and a report from the accident commission.
