Local politics in the week from March 10 to 16
In the next municipal policy week, there will be a special meeting of the main committee as well as a meeting of the mobility committee, which will also meet again as the advisory board of the Aachener Verkehrsverbund (AVV). A total of six meetings are scheduled.
Tuesday, March 11
The meeting of the Children and Youth Committee begins at 5 p.m. in the administration building on Mozartstraße (Room 207). Among other things, the results of the citizens' report 2024 "How can Aachen become more attractive for families with children?" will be presented. Also on the agenda are the demand planning for child daycare for the 2025/26 childcare year and a subsidy to make childcare times more flexible for three daycare centres run by independent providers.
The operations committee of Aachener Stadtbetrieb meets at 5 pm in the meeting room of Stadtbetrieb on Madrider Ring. The works committee will discuss the concept and pilot phase for the collection of used clothing, a status report on improving the quality of organic waste and the presentation of the 2024 tree balance.
Wednesday, March 12
The special meeting of the main committee starts at 4 p.m. in the council meeting room at Aachen Town Hall. The only two public items on the agenda are the planning status of the "House of Curiosity" and a delegation trip to mark the 25th anniversary of the partnership between Aachen and Cape Town.
The meeting of the Aachen City Council will then start at 5 pm, also in the Council Chamber. This will deal, for example, with the budget discussions including the staffing plan, the requirements planning for child daycare for the 2025/26 daycare year and the preparation of a disaster control requirements plan for the City of Aachen 2025.
Thursday, March 13
The Culture and Theatre Operations Committee will also meet at 5 p.m. in the administration building on Mozartstraße (Room 207). The agenda includes, for example, a status report on the cultural guiding profile as well as a new version of the fee schedule for the Route Charlemagne, the Ludwig Forum for International Art and the Suermondt-Ludwig Museum. The business plan for the 2025/26 season and the provisional 2026/27 business plan for the Stadttheater and Musikdirektion Aachen will also be discussed.
The meeting of the Mobility Committee and the AVV Advisory Board is scheduled for 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber. Three of the topics: a redesign of the Vaalser Straße / Amsterdamer Ring / Halifaxstraße junction, a report on measures taken by the accident commission and guidelines for bicycle parking and charging stations.
