100 projects supported: The "Guten Abend, Aachen" development fund starts a new round

The municipal action fund "Guten Abend, Aachen" has entered its next funding phase: Applications for creative and cultural evening and leisure activities can now be submitted again. The city invites all committed citizens, associations and companies to submit their ideas - simply, unbureaucratically and with the aim of promoting inner-city interaction and more cultural highlights, especially in the evening hours.

Milestone reached: Over 100 ideas already realized

Since the fund was launched, 100 projects have now been successfully supported - a significant milestone for the program, which encourages people in Aachen to play an active role in shaping their city. From a jazz concert in an eyewear store to inclusive party series for people with and without disabilities to a magic show at the Elisenbrunnen: The variety of ideas shows just how lively and creative Aachen is.

"It's impressive to see how much commitment and passion goes into the projects," says Mayor Sibylle Keupen. "With the fund, we are specifically supporting people who create extraordinary opportunities in Aachen's city center and thus strengthen local cultural interaction."

City Manager Kai Hennes is in charge of implementing the fund and also has news for all interested parties: "What's new is that we can also support events that take place before 5 p.m. in this round. This was previously excluded. This means that even more people can now make use of the fund and implement their ideas. You can receive up to 2,500 euros per application as a grant and even up to 5,000 euros if you submit an idea as a team of three. This is possible until the end of November. The fund has a total volume of 150,000 euros." The jury that reviews the applications consists of City Manager Kai Hennes, Night Mayor Till Görgen and Till Schüler, Managing Director of Märkte und Aktionskreis City (MAC).

An example from the current funding program: Music in the open air

A foretaste of the new funding phase awaits the people of Aachen at the beginning of July: from July 7 to 12, 2025, an open-air concert series will take place in a central location in Aachen's pedestrian zone, made possible by the "Guten Abend, Aachen" fund. The concerts will take place in the Londoner Hof in front of the Wabe store in Kleinkölnstraße. The community of traders in Großkölnstraße initiated the event, supported by Prof. Hans-Werner Huppertz from the University of Music and Dance. Students from the university will present a diverse musical program on six consecutive evenings from 5:30 pm - from classical music to pop chansons to contemporary music. Admission is free thanks to the sponsorship. The concert series invites you to linger, meet and enjoy.

The "Guten Abend, Aachen" fund is one component of a comprehensive process for the development of Aachen's city center, through which the city's society can actively participate in shaping the future of Aachen's city center.
