Local politics in the week from June 30 to July 6
As the summer vacations approach, the City of Aachen's calendar of meetings is filling up: A total of eleven meetings are scheduled for the next municipal political week. Among other things, six district councils will be meeting.
Tuesday, July 1
The meeting of the Finance Committee begins at 5 p.m. in the meeting room of Haus Löwenstein am Markt. Among other things, the committee will discuss property tax C, the introduction of an accommodation tax and the use of foundation funds in 2025.
The Committee for the Environment and Climate Protection meets at 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber of Aachen Town Hall. The committee will deal with the fire and rescue station and the "Siegel" sports ground as well as making Aachen's streams visible and tangible at several locations. Heat action planning for this year's summer is also on the agenda.
The children and youth committee will also meet at 5 p.m. in the administration building on Mozartstraße (room 207). The results of the future workshop "Pimp my Future", the strengthening of youth participation and improvements to the Lindenplatz playground will be discussed there.
Wednesday, July 2
The meeting of the Aachen-Mitte district council will take place from 5 p.m. in the council meeting room. The district council will discuss the feasibility study on the "Upgrading of the Grabenring as a cycle distribution ring", Campus West, the "Future Forest" action program and the "Focus area for urban development".
The Aachen-Brand district council will be discussing the closure of Grachtstraße between Indeweg and Krauthausen, the priority cycle route in Brand, the conversion of the Rombachstraße junction and the redesign of Freunder Landstraße at its meeting from 5 p.m. in the meeting room of the local district office on Paul-Küpper-Platz.
The Committee for Labor, Economic and Regional Development meets at 5 p.m. in the meeting room of Haus Löwenstein. Three of the topics: the eastern city center, the city of Aachen's withdrawal from the Metropolregion Rheinland e. V. and the "KRAFTWERK" project idea as part of the further development of the bus station.
The Aachen-Eilendorf district council meets from 5.30 pm in the meeting room of the Eilendorf district office on Heinrich-Thomas-Platz. Among other things, the following status reports will be discussed: the planned traffic lights on Von-Coels-Straße, the "Steinstraße / Auf Trimpersfeld" development plan and the railroad overpass on Nirmer Straße.
The meeting of the Aachen-Laurensberg district council starts at 5.30 pm in the meeting room of the district office on Rathausstraße. The agenda includes a citizens' motion on the school playground in Orsbach, the final expansion of "Am Sandhäuschen" and a status report on Campus West.
From 6 p.m., the Aachen-Richterich district council will discuss the municipal heating plan, the ecological condition of the pond at Schönau Castle and a list of priorities for small-scale measures in 2025 in the meeting room at Schönau Castle.
The Aachen-Haaren district council will also meet at 6 p.m. in the meeting room of the community center on Germanusstraße. The agenda includes the presentation of a project for the artistic design of the bridge structure "A 544 / Auf der Hüls", the ecological cemetery development concept and the development plan "Haaren-Ortsmitte-Stadthäuser: Erschließung".
Thursday, July 3
The meeting of the planning committee will bring the municipal policy week to a close from 5 p.m. in the council chamber. The "Zukunft Forst" action program, the redesign of Theaterplatz and the Elsassstraße / Moscheeplatz development plan are among the items on the agenda.
