City company waters 2,300 trees a week in the city of Aachen

The city's tree maintenance team is currently on the road with up to seven vehicles in the city of Aachen, watering around 2,300 trees every week. These are young trees that have been planted in the past three years as well as those that still need additional support.

Watering is necessary because the water in the soil is dwindling due to the prolonged drought and many trees are only living off the water stored in their roots and trunks. Young trees are particularly affected by this, as they have not yet been able to form sufficiently wide and deep roots. Each tree that is watered by the municipal water company receives 120 liters of water; most of it is poured onto the tree, the rest into the tree disc.

Citizens can support the employees of the municipal company by supplying trees in their own residential street with water. Tap water and rainwater are equally suitable. There is no such thing as too much, and every bucket or watering can counts.
