Sustainable, ecological forest management: Aachen forestry office undergoes annual review

The municipal forestry office of the city of Aachen is certified according to the criteria of the "Forest Stewardship Council"® (FSC®-C116663). This certificate stands for sustainable, environmentally friendly and socially responsible forest management. In order to maintain the certificate, the forestry office must undergo recertification every five years and a surveillance audit every four years thereafter. The current annual review is due in July 2025.

Interested Aachen residents and interest groups can give their views on forest management in Aachen as part of this monitoring audit. The neutral expert from "Preferred by nature" (Nepcon), Michael Kutschke, will accept the assessments and evaluations: Phone 0049 (0)30 403674580 or email mkutschke@preferredbynature.org.

The guiding principle of the FSC® is the natural forest community with all its animal and plant species. These communities, which have developed over thousands of years, are highly resistant to external influences such as snow, storms, fire and climate change. Forestry companies that manage their forests in accordance with the FSC® standards make a major contribution to preserving these natural forest communities or developing the existing forest in this way.
