Asphalt renovation on Berensberger Strasse: construction schedule shortened
As of this week, Aachen's public works department is having the road surface in Berensberger Straße repaired as part of the major asphalt works. This concerns the area between Roermonder Straße and the Kohlscheider Straße bridge.
Changes to the construction schedule have made it possible to streamline construction times. This accelerates the construction process and minimizes the restrictions. Construction times have changed:
From Sunday, June 15, 3 p.m. to Monday, June 16, 6 p.m., the first section from Roermonder Straße to the halfway point at Parkstraße will be completely closed to vehicle traffic. The final asphalt surface course will be laid during this period.
On Tuesday, June 17, the section from the second half of the Parkstraße junction to the halfway point of the Schloss-Schönau-Straße junction will be asphalted and must therefore be completely closed to traffic.
During the first two construction phases, traffic will be diverted via Schloss-Schönau-Straße onto Roermonder Straße. The bus stops between Parkstraße and Schloss-Schönau-Straße will be closed.
On Wednesday, July 2, the last section from the second half of Schloss-Schönau-Straße to the end of construction before the Kohlscheider Straße bridge will be asphalted, whereby this section will be divided in Richtericher Straße. This means that it will be possible to enter and exit in the direction of Kohlscheid in the morning and then in the direction of Richterich in the afternoon. An exact time of the change cannot be specified at present.
Access to Richtericher Straße is possible for residents at all times. The detour for the third construction phase will be signposted via Ferber Berg and Schlossparkstraße to Roermonder Straße. The Richterich Siebweg bus stop will be closed.
Parking in the ancillary facilities and on the roadside is prohibited during the construction period of the respective construction section. The work may cause noise and dirt nuisance. Appropriate protective measures will be taken to keep this to a minimum. It is strongly recommended not to walk on the sprayed road surface during asphalt paving, as there is a risk of permanently soiling clothing. The same applies to driving on it with vehicles.
In view of the poor condition of the road surface, it is imperative that the asphalt is repaired at this point in time and cannot be postponed. This is the only way to guarantee that road safety is maintained for all road users on Berensberger Straße.
