Advance booking started: Jutta Speidel reads in the ballroom of the Altes Kurhaus
"Amaryllis" is the title of the debut novel by the popular actress Jutta Speidel. On Sunday, October 12, the City of Aachen's culture department invites you to the ballroom of the Altes Kurhaus. Speidel will read from her novel, accompanied by singer Antonia Feuerstein and Peter Rodekuhr on the piano.
"Amaryllis" (what if...) is a musical reading without resignation, but with the message that you should be open to new paths throughout your life. It exudes unconventional ways of thinking, generosity, trust and forgiveness. Advance ticket sales have now begun.
Cheeky, cheerful, profound and very intense, Jutta Speidel tells the life of the clown Valerie between 1954 and 2024. It is a life that takes many detours and deals with great love, hope, tragedy, renunciation, betrayal and reconciliation.
Speidel herself reveals only this much: "Don't you know this too? You've already lived a good part of your life, many things have worked out well, some less so, and every now and then you catch yourself thinking: What if...? Yes, if my name hadn't been Jutta? If I hadn't become an actress? If I hadn't married the man, lived many and completely different loves and perhaps had no children? Lived in a completely different country? And still be ME. That's how I feel. I am Jutta and I am Valerie. Her biography is also mine. At least, it could be, but...!"
