Theaterplatz: Construction work has officially started

Construction work on Theaterplatz officially began on Tuesday, February 4. In perfect weather, Mayor Sibylle Keupen, City Planning Councillor Frauke Burgdorff, Regionetz Managing Directors Stefan Ohmen and Axel Kahl and their teams came to the forecourt of the municipal theater to talk to guests and passers-by. They had plenty to do. Because many people came to the opening.

Mayoress Keupen was very pleased that the construction work has now started. "A square is being created here that will shine in new splendor and offer more space for people to meet in the future," she said.

Theater director Elena Tzavara spoke of a new "public square" that could be used in a variety of ways. She emphasized the great civic commitment. "Together with the neighbors, we want to make the construction site so attractive that people will ultimately come to Aachen because of the construction site," said Tzavara. And optician Andreas Haveneth added, as a businessman on Theaterplatz, that it would be worth coming to Theaterplatz. He called out to all guests with a view to what is about to happen: "You can get ready for something."

City Planning Councillor Frauke Burgdorff used the opening to introduce all the people involved with the construction site on Theaterplatz in the run-up to the project and over the next few years. A large group of people came together.

The opening was accompanied by music from students at the University of Music in Aachen. And the construction company gave interested visitors a tour of the building site.
