On the weekend of September 6 and 7, the City of Aachen's culture department is organizing "einzigARTig - the festival of inclusive culture" at the Depot Talstraße for the second time.

One of the cultural policy tasks formulated in the City of Aachen's guiding cultural profile is to strengthen and maintain equal opportunities and equity. This includes the challenge of enabling different human identities to participate in cultural events both passively and actively (i.e. not just limited to pure reception, but taking active participation into account).

"The 'einzigARTig' festival offers artists with disabilities from the entire spectrum of culture a forum to present their art to a wider audience. Collaboration with people without disabilities is also expressly encouraged. Art and culture have the potential to connect people and we want to show and celebrate this," emphasizes Heinrich Brötz, Head of the Department of Education, Youth and Culture of the City of Aachen.

It is important that the individual collaborative projects are not rigidly dictated by curators, choreographers or directors, but that the participants can influence the program on an equal footing. The guidelines here are active participation and design.

The program will be rounded off with interviews, lectures, a panel discussion and information stands. Admission is free for all interested parties.
