Local politics in the week from April 28 to May 4
In the first local political week after Easter, three committees, a district council and the youth forum will meet before May Day.
Tuesday, April 29,
The Children and Youth Committee will meet in the meeting room of Aachen Town Hall at 5 pm. Among other things, it will discuss the results report on the "Urban living with children" project, the enrolment figures for general education schools for the 2025/2026 school year and the demand for all-day places for children at elementary school and special schools for the coming school year.
At the same time, the Committee for the Environment and Climate Protection will discuss the current status of the Agency for Climate and Sustainability. There will also be a progress report on solutions for decentralized heat supply in Aachen. Another topic: "Aachen on the way to climate neutrality: energy concepts for CO2-neutral industrial estates". The meeting starts at 5 p.m. in room 207 in the Mozartstraße administration building.
Wednesday, April 30
As a special meeting of the Citizens' Forum, the Youth Forum will meet at 5 p.m. in forum M of the Mayersche Buchhandlung. Various proposals submitted as part of the "Pimp my Future" workshop will be discussed. The youth forum will also deal with an application for the "Implementation of a website with offers for children and young people in the city of Aachen".
The Aachen-Mitte district council will also meet at 5 pm in the meeting room of Aachen Town Hall. Three of the topics: a citizens' petition to rename part of the street An der Nikolauskirche as Hiroshimaplatz, the presentation of the skate park on Eisenbahnweg and the after-work market in Aachen.
The week ends with the Committee for Employment, Economic and Regional Development. Here, too, the after-work market in Aachen is on the agenda. The committee will also decide on the topic of "Aachen on the road to climate neutrality: energy concepts for CO2-neutral business parks". Also on the agenda: the interim report 'SolAixQ - Solar learning in the Aachen district'. The meeting will take place at 5 p.m. in the meeting room of Haus Löwenstein.
