AachenSeptemberSpecial 2024: Looking forward to a big festival in the city center from September 19 to 22

  • From September 19 to 22, the AachenSeptemberSpecial offers carousels, Euregional stalls, the Ferris wheel and 20 concerts.
  • The mobility special on September 22 will provide information on mobile trends.
  • New to the program are a science slam and the children's program on Münsterplatz.

This year will once again be a colorful one in Aachen's city center: the AachenSeptemberSpecial is just around the corner! The Harmonic Gamblers set the mood musically at the press conference in Haus Löwenstein. From September 19 to 22, visitors can once again enjoy a colorful mix of music, Euregional food offerings and attractions at the various locations in the Elisengarten, at the Kugelbrunnen, on the Katschhof, on the Holzgraben, on Münsterplatz or on Willy-Brandt-Platz. The mobility special powered by STAWAG will also take place for the fifth time on Sunday, September 22. From 12 noon to 5 p.m., exhibitors will be presenting all aspects of mobility and providing information about e-bikes, car sharing and much more.

The AachenSeptemberSpecial attracts numerous visitors to the city year after year and shows again and again how attractive, lively and diverse Aachen is "I am particularly looking forward to the new program for children on Münsterplatz, because even the little ones are hungry for culture and activity," emphasized Lord Mayor Sibylle Keupen at the joint press conference of the organizers on 11 September. The festival offers a varied program for young and old with free admission. The event also serves as an important stimulus for the retail and gastronomy sectors in Aachen's city center. "Every event also draws people into shops, cafés and pubs. Here we can live a welcoming culture and show our guests that our city is attractive and always worth a visit," explains Till Schüler, Managing Director of the MAC.

Märkte und Aktionskreis City e. V. (MAC) and the City of Aachen have once again put together a varied program with the support of sponsors. In Search of a Rose, Szenario, invisible touch, Planschemalöör, VENNomenal, almost a dozen Öcher Bands, three Big Bands, The Cable Bugs, The Legendary Ghetto Dance Band and de Zweij are the musical protagonists of the AachenSeptemberSpecial and provide a total of 20 concerts or 1765 minutes of music and entertainment!

In addition, the Ferris wheel is of course once again the annual highlight on the Katschhof, offering an extraordinary view over the city.

For the first time, a Science Slam will be held in cooperation with the Science Office of the City of Aachen and FH Aachen. The program will be moderated by Professor Thomas Ritz, the new Rector of FH Aachen, on Sunday, September 22, at 1 p.m. on the Katschhof.

The children's program at DAS DA Theater on Münsterplatz is also new. The program includes a hands-on circus, face painting, dance and singing workshops, walking acts by Janosch and a performance by "das NEINhorn". The activities for the little ones are supported by NetAachen and the Aachen school circus Circus Configurani.

Security is a particular issue this year: police and security services will be keeping a close eye on the city. Despite the sad headlines of the last few weeks, a happy and relaxed get-together should be possible during the event, emphasized Sibylle Keupen, supported by Till Schüler.

The organizers would like to express their thanks to the sponsors and supporters, Sparkasse Aachen, STAWAG, NetAachen, Antenne AC, APAG, ASEAG, Bitburger, Aachener Zeitung and Zeitung am Sonntag.
