Residents' parking zone East 1/East 3: New parking regulations apply from September 9
In recent weeks, the city has had the new East 1 and East 3 residents' parking zones set up. In addition, the existing parking zone V will be extended. The new parking regulations for resident parking will apply from Monday, September 9, 2024. The city assumes that resident parking will make it easier for residents to find a free parking space.
Which street belongs to which parking zone?
The following streets belong to Parkzone East 1: Adalbertsteinweg (eastern side between Josefskirche and Rothe Erde station), Alsenstraße, Düppelstraße, Eifelstraße (between Stolberger Straße and Adalbertsteinweg), Elsassplatz, Elsassstraße, Hohenzollernplatz, Holsteinstraße, Leipziger Straße, Lützowstraße, Reichsweg (between Adalbertsteinweg and Düppelstraße), Rudolf-Schwarz-Weg, Schleswigstraße, St.-Josefs-Platz, Sedanstraße, Steubenstraße, Stolberger Straße (between Josefskirche and Elsassstraße, in the section from Eifelstraße to Lützowstraße on the south side) and Weißenburger Straße.
The following streets are assigned to Zone East 3: Bischofstraße, Eifelstraße (between Gneisenaustraße and Stolberger Straße), Gneisenaustraße, Joseph-von-Görres-Straße (between Europaplatz and Stolberger Straße), Peliserkerstraße (between Stolberger Straße and Hugo-Junkers-Schule) and Stolberger Straße (northern side between Peliserkerstraße and Eifelstraße).
Parts of Peliserkerstrasse, Joseph-von-Görres-Strasse and Bischofstrasse were previously part of the existing East 2 parking zone. Residents with resident parking permits have received new permits with the same validity as before from the city's citizen service.
The existing Zone V will be extended to include the houses at Adalbertsteinweg 123-123d. There are no additional parking spaces here. However, residents could receive parking permits on request.
Apply for a parking permit
Since August 12, eligible residents of the zones can apply for resident parking permits for zones East 1 and East 3 as well as for the extended zone V online via the service portal of the City of Aachen and print them out immediately (serviceportal.aachen.de).
Alternatively, resident parking permits can be applied for in person: at the citizen service points at the main railway station and at Katschhof as well as at one of the six district offices. Appointments can be made via the website www.aachen.de/ terminvereinbarung or by calling 0241 432-1234.
An administrative fee of 30 euros is currently payable for the issue of a resident parking permit. The permit is valid for one year.
Parking fees for non-residents
Anyone wishing to park their vehicle in the new resident parking zones East 1 and East 3 and the extended zone V and who does not have a resident parking permit for the zones will have to pay a fee of at least one euro from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 7 pm and on Saturdays between 9 am and 2 pm. In return, the vehicle can be parked for up to 40 minutes. For the new East 1 parking zone, there is a day ticket for eight euros, in the East 3 parking zone it costs six euros.
The city council approved the new parking zones East 1 and East 3 U and the extension of the existing parking zone V at its meeting on February 1, 2023.
