A journey through time: Guided tours through the Elisabethhalle
A short journey back in time to the bathing culture of around 100 years ago: On Saturday, November 30, three guided tours will once again be offered in the Elisabethhalle. One tour includes the two swimming halls, which were built for the formerly gender-segregated bathing pleasure for women and men. A visit to the swimming hall conveys a wonderful feeling of luxurious bathing in Art Nouveau style. This impression is reinforced by the disused bath section with original fittings and furniture.
The tour also includes a descent into the hidden technical areas beneath the indoor swimming pool. This gives you an idea of how complex it was to operate such an indoor swimming pool, where, for example, a coal-fired steam heating system had to be kept in constant operation. You can also see how much effort is still required today with modern technology to provide the public with a well-heated, ventilated and hygienically perfect indoor swimming pool.
There is a guided tour at 8.30 am, 10 am and 11.30 am. A maximum of 20 people can take part in each tour. The route of the tour is not barrier-free and unfortunately not suitable for people with walking difficulties.
Registration is required and can be made in person at the Elisabethhalle ticket office or by telephone on 0241 432-5216. The participation fee is 5 euros per person and must be paid by November 22 at the latest for binding registration.
