Joint priority operation: drug finds and arrests
As part of a joint operation by Aachen police, customs, the public order office, the city treasury and the tax office, a total of eight businesses were checked between 6 p.m. and 2.30 a.m. last Friday, November 15 - including kiosks and shisha bars. A total of 182 people were checked. Two people were arrested.
The public order office was able to identify several violations. The colleagues instructed operators who offered beverage cans without a deposit about the violation of the deposit collection obligation. A further violation of the law on the placing on the market, return and high-quality recycling of packaging could result in an administrative offense.
Likewise, not all goods were labeled with prices, which leads to a violation of the Price Indication Ordinance. Several sales outlets were in breach of the Service Information Obligations Ordinance, as no information about the store owner(s) was visible to consumers. This includes, for example, name and address.
In two shisha bars, the colleagues from the public order and security service discovered violations of the Tobacco Products Act and the Tobacco Tax Act. Tobacco products that are not authorized in Germany or opened tobacco containers that may no longer be sold once opened were found there. The finds were immediately handed over to customs.
The municipal enforcement officers were able to recover outstanding debts in two places and also gained additional information for further enforcement in 13 cases.
The police found several bubbles of heroin and cocaine on a 31-year-old man in a kiosk in Düppelstraße. He was provisionally arrested. The local court has since ordered him to be remanded in custody. During a search of another person in front of the kiosk, a telescopic baton was found and seized. Proceedings were initiated for violation of the Weapons Act. During a check in Antoniusstraße, where a total of 77 people were checked that evening, the police seized a prohibited knife. Proceedings were also initiated in this case.
In a shisha bar on Adalbertsteinweg, a 36-year-old man was carrying a foreign driver's license. The man had already been reported to the police for driving without a license. The document was then confiscated. Another man wanted on a warrant was arrested at the location.
During a search of several men (aged between 17 and 23) in a kiosk in Kapellenstraße, over two dozen bags of cannabis and hashish were found and seized. Criminal proceedings for trafficking in narcotics were initiated.
The joint priority missions and inter-agency cooperation are very much welcomed by all those involved and will continue to take place regularly in the future.
