With the development of the Kornelimünster West residential area, the city of Aachen is pursuing the goal of providing families with children who are willing to build a suitable home. The planned development consists of a mix of detached and semi-detached houses as well as groups of houses, which is intended to meet the different needs and living requirements of future residents.
The award is aimed at developers who have experience in the planning and construction of sustainable and affordable detached houses, semi-detached houses and groups of houses. The plots will be awarded in their entirety to a developer under heritable building rights. Proof of reference projects must be submitted with the application.

The planning and realization of the project must generally be carried out without public housing subsidies, as publicly subsidized housing construction is sufficiently covered by the surrounding area.
The Kornelimünster West development area is located in the Aachen-Kornelimünster / Walheim district in the southern part of Aachen's urban area. The planning area is very well developed and the proximity to the social infrastructure makes the area particularly attractive for families.
The deadline for submitting the application documents is 15.02.2026. The applicant with the best-rated concept has a maximum of 6 months to develop the final plan, so that the process can probably be completed in mid-2027 after final approval by the political bodies.
