Hangeweiher outdoor pool
The Hangeweiher outdoor pool is suitable for everyone in Aachen, depending on the weather and time of day. Pool manager Thorsten explains:
"The sports swimmers are there in the morning, they want to do their laps. They also come when it's 12 or 15 degrees. Up to a temperature of 20 degrees, the sunbathing lawn is actually completely empty. When it gets really warm, lots of families come, of course. With the newly designed toddler area, which is actually shaded by large trees all day long, it's also ideal for the little ones. And now, of course, there are lots of schoolchildren here during the vacations. They come early in the morning and spend their vacation days here. Of course, the discounted vacation ticket is also ideal."

3 questions for Torsten Liebl, pool manager of the Hangeweiher outdoor pool in Aachen
My favorite thing about my bathroom...
Pool manager Liebl immediately starts bubbling away, like the water cannons at the non-swimmers' pool: "After the refurbishment in recent years, of course, the great stainless steel pools. They're really great! The wide slide is a real winner: people sometimes slide down it four abreast and have a lot of fun, the children do it several times in a row. The water cannons are also super popular. People are always asking if we can turn them on. And the location of the outdoor pool is great: in the middle of the countryside, but still quite close to the city."
Who is your bathroom particularly suitable for?
For Liebl, this is extremely dependent on the weather and the time of day: "In the morning, the sports swimmers are there, they want to do their lengths.
What is the most exciting thing about the Hangeweiher and your job?
Torsten Liebl has been doing the job for 30 years - and still puts his heart and soul into it: "Every day is a challenge here, you have to adapt to something new every day. This ranges from classic pool supervision to swimming pool technology and first aid. Of course, it can be stressful on really hot days - but it's not like 'Majorca stress', where people steal each other's loungers and remove towels. There's usually a great atmosphere among the guests here too. We have a great team here and a great working atmosphere. And: I attach great importance to cleanliness and friendliness towards the guests here at Hangeweiher."
