The Council
The City Council, which was elected on September 13, 2020, consists of 58 members and the Lord Mayor Sibylle Keupen, who is the Chairwoman of the Council. She is a member of the Council by law and has her own voting rights in the Council.
Representatives of the following parties were elected to the city council in this municipal election: GREENS: 20 seats, CDU: 14 seats, SPD: 11 seats, DIE ZUKUNFT (a merger of VOLT (2) PIRATEN (1) and UWG(1)): 4 seats, DIE LINKE: 3 seats, FDP: 3 seats, AfD: 2, DIE PARTEI: 1 seat.
