Company health management

• Includes all measures that can contribute both to the promotion of individual health and to a healthy organization.
• It starts with individual responsibility and self-management and is both an employer responsibility and a management task.
• The health of employees is included as an important feature in the processes and decisions of the city administration.
• According to the definition of the World Health Organization (WHO), health in the sense of occupational health management is understood as "a state of complete physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being"; we see this as the "ideal state" that we want to approach with our work.

Service agreement

It is the joint goal of the administrative management and the General Staff Council to maintain and improve the health status and health awareness of the employees of Aachen City Council in order to better meet the changing requirements and conditions of today's working world by strengthening internal administrative health potential. Occupational health management should make an effective contribution to this.

The most important objectives of BGM include

• promoting the working atmosphere and cooperation
• Improvement in service quality
• Increase in the health rate
• Ensuring efficiency
• Promotion of health awareness
• Maintaining the performance of older employees

Successful occupational health management therefore brings benefits for the city administration, the employees and the citizens of Aachen. Employees are a central point of reference for all approaches to occupational health management. Involving employees as experts in their own cause is a prerequisite for success. For this reason, the processes of occupational health management must be designed with the participation of employees.

Corporate Health Award

In 2021, the City of Aachen was awarded one of the most prestigious prizes for occupational health management, the "Corporate Helath Award", and achieved "Excellence Status" in comparison with other public municipalities.
