Politics and administration

Aachen is a vibrant European city. It has been a hotspot of history since Charlemagne. But thanks to clever minds, it is also a laboratory for the future. All employees of the city administration work for the benefit of the people who live, work or visit us here. We see ourselves as a service provider and cooperate with all relevant institutions in Aachen and the surrounding area.

City districts

Historic city center photographed from above with a view of Münsterplatz.

Aachen is not just the cathedral and town hall: there is a lot to see and experience in our six outlying districts around the largest district, Aachen-Mitte. The historic center of Kornelimünster, the Haarener Kreuz or the Brander Stier are examples of the self-confident districts of the city of Aachen. Schönau Castle in Richterich, St. Severin in Eilendorf and the CHIO in Laurensberg are also always worth a visit.
