South quarter (center)

Location

The area of Aachen's Südviertel extends from Kornelimünsterweg in the east to Hasselholzer Weg in the west. To the north, Aachen's southern district is bordered by Adenauerallee, Siegelallee, Salierallee, the Philips site, the Aachener and Münchener Versicherung areas, Hangeweiher and Amsterdamer Ring. The southern boundary is formed by Aachener Wald (Hochgrundhaus, Waldschänke, Maria Rast, Alt-Linzenshäuschen, Pommerotter Weg, Waldfriedhof).

Planned use

  • The character of the residential area must be preserved.
  • The character of a loosely built-up area of single-family homes must be preserved.
  • Disorderly redensification must be prevented.
  • The green structures should be preserved.
  • Fresh air corridors should be taken into account when building.

Process status

The framework concept was presented to the planning committee at its meeting on March 10, 2005 and approved by the committee. Resolutions have been passed for individual areas, and the development plans are currently being drawn up by the Urban Development and Traffic Facilities Department.
