The Preuswald priority cycle route connects the south-western district of Preuswald, near the Belgian border, and Aachen city center over a length of approx. 5.1 km. The route runs in the inner-city area from Löhrergraben via Mörgensstraße, Krakaustraße and Südstraße, as potential cycle routes, to Mozartstraße and Hohenstaufenallee. The connection to Lütticher Straße with a structurally separate shared footpath and cycle path and thus to Preuswald is possible via two route variants: The route via Habsburger Allee and Maria-Theresia-Allee as well as Ronheider Berg corresponds to the route already signposted in the local cycle network. Alternatively, the designation of Goethestraße and Herman-Löns-Allee with a connection to Lütticher Straße as a priority cycle route would also appear suitable. A decision between the alternatives will be made at a later date as part of the in-depth planning.
Latest news
Krakaustraße has been under reconstruction since 2025. A red-marked cycle lane is to be built there in 2026.
Planning status
The route of the RVR Preuswald was discussed on 31.10.2018 in the Aachen Mitte district council. On 12.09.2019, the mobility committee commissioned the administration with the successive implementation of the priority cycle network.
