Invitation to the meeting of the Citizens' Forum of the City of Aachen
The Citizens' Forum of the City of Aachen invites you to a public meeting on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber of Aachen City Hall.
The meeting will discuss four citizens' applications in which Aachen residents put forward ideas and concerns for their city:
More green through "Tegelwippen"
A participatory campaign is proposed in which sealed surfaces on private properties are removed and planted with greenery. The idea is to do something together for climate protection, biodiversity and a greener cityscape - in a low-threshold and fun way.
Fewer cigarette butts in the cityscape
Another motion deals with the heavy pollution caused by cigarette butts. Among other things, it proposes a city-wide awareness campaign, the distribution of pocket ashtrays and clearer rules and controls to sustainably improve cleanliness in Aachen.
Traffic calming in Wilmersdorfer Straße in Aachen-Haaren
This application is about more peace and safety in a street area that is repeatedly used for purposes other than its intended purpose. It proposes structural and organizational measures to calm traffic as well as additional litter garbage cans to reduce nuisance for residents, businesses and visitors.
Future of the Türelüre-Lißje fountain
A citizens' petition suggests looking into the future use and design of the Türelüre-Lißje fountain and examining how the site can be meaningfully integrated into the public space in future.
The meeting will also include a question and answer session for residents and the opportunity to raise other concerns.
The Citizens' Forum is a committee of the Aachen City Council and a place of exchange between citizens, politicians and the administration. Here, citizens can raise their issues, ask questions and talk to representatives of the political groups and the specialist administration.
All Aachen citizens are cordially invited to come along, listen, join in the discussion and actively participate in shaping our city. Your opinion is important to us!
