The Citizens' Assembly's recommendations are being presented!

How can Aachen create mobility that is fair to everyone - whether on foot, by bike, by car or by bus? This was the question addressed by the city's third permanent citizens' council. The result: nine concrete recommendations for a balanced mobility of the future. These will be presented to the public on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 6 pm in Forum M of Mayersche Buchhandlung.

Anyone interested is cordially invited to attend the Citizens’ Assembly conference, learn about the recommendations, and join the discussion. Following the presentation, guests—as well as political representatives—will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with the participants.

The proposals of the Citizens' Council show how Aachen's transport policy can become fairer, more sustainable and more liveable in the future. They range from digital offers and innovative approaches for cycling and car traffic to new impulses for local public transport. They therefore not only provide important suggestions for politicians and administrators, but also food for thought for the entire urban society.

Insights into the process

Moderated by the participation office Zebralog, the members of the Citizens' Council 2025 present their report. In addition to the substantive recommendations, the participants report on how the intensive exchange between people with very different perspectives has led to new ideas. It also becomes clear that the process of weighing up many different concerns, enduring differences and seeking consensus together is challenging - which is precisely what makes the Citizens' Assembly special and gives its results particular weight.

Shortly after the Citizens' Council ended, the Lord Mayor personally thanked the participants for their great commitment and dedicated work at an appreciative event in the town hall. She was particularly impressed by the high level of commitment and motivation shown by the participants.

On December 17, 2025, the Aachen City Council will officially receive the report and discuss the recommendations.
