Aachen uses its unique geographical location in the heart of Europe for a variety of European initiatives: These range from information on EU topics in the EUROPE DIRECT Information Center to the cross-border network of the AG Charlemagne border region and cooperation at Euregional and European level in Interreg projects.
Through these activities and cross-border cooperation in the key areas of business, mobility, education and energy, Aachen is transforming its historical significance into a modern, dynamic role as a bridge builder in the heart of Europe.
AG Charlemagne
The network of border municipalities and regional authorities - City of Aachen, Städteregion Aachen, German-speaking Community of Belgium, Parkstad Limburg, Vaals and Heerlen - pursues the goal of exchange between the municipalities, particularly in the areas of bilateral projects, mobility and the labor market.
INTERREG projects
The aim of the projects is to promote cross-border cooperation. For example, we are currently working with over 20 European project partners in the INTERREG-funded E6 project.
