Bleiberger factory

For nearly 40 years, the Bleiberger Fabrik in western Aachen has been a vibrant cultural and experiential space. The former factory building was acquired and renovated in 1980 by the Jugendwerk für internationale Zusammenarbeit e. V. with the support of many friends and sponsors. Jesuit Father Erich Lennartz thereby laid the foundation for artistic and creative educational work with children, youth, and adults, which is now supported and carried out by the Youth Art School, the Cultural Workshop, and the Creative Workshops.

The Creative Workshops at the Bleiberger Fabrik have a long history. This vacation program for children and teenagers has been in existence since 1965 and, after many years in various Aachen schools and institutions, found a home in 1980 in the old factory on Bleiberger Straße. The Cultural Workshop offers courses for adults outside of the school vacation periods. The Youth Art School tailors its programs to children and teenagers. It runs its own program as well as projects and collaborations with schools.

The Bleiberger Fabrik Workshop and Education Center features separate studios for children and adults. There are also spaces for physical activities, seminars, and conferences. It sees itself as a vibrant center for learning, self-expression, and personal development, and views people as holistic beings whose diverse needs for self-actualization it seeks to meet through its educational offerings.
