Eastern cemetery

Description

The eastern cemetery is 125,265 m² in size and has been used since August 28, 1803 (!). It is the oldest still active cemetery in the city of Aachen. In 2010, the number of burials was 28 and only urn burials are permitted here. At present, 90 percent of the cemetery and the buildings and graves located there are listed buildings.
Access is possible from Adalbertsteinweg opposite St. Joseph's Church and from Eifelstraße. Access is possible from March 1 to September 30, Mondays to Fridays from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm, Saturdays from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm and on Sundays and public holidays from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.

The following opening hours apply from October 1 to November 2:
Mon-Fri: 8.00 am to 6.00 pm
Sat: 8.00 am to 5.00 pm
Sun and on public holidays: 8.00 am to 5.00 pm

The opening hours from November 3rd to the last day of February are:
Mon-Sun and on public holidays: 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.

The cemetery can be reached by public transport via the "Josefskirche" stop.
