Citizens' Forum Addresses Cycling and Non-Binary Individuals

The Aachen Citizens' Forum will meet on Tuesday, September 15, starting at 5 p.m. in the Aachen City Council Chamber. The agenda includes three citizen-initiated motions on the topics of bicycle traffic and the inclusion of non-binary individuals.

Two citizen petitions address the installation of green arrows for cyclists. One petition calls for a green arrow at the Boxgraben/Krakaustraße/Südstraße intersection, while the other calls for the installation of such green arrows at as many traffic signal intersections as possible on roads with protected bike lanes. The goal is to enable cyclists to make quick and safe right turns on red lights and to speed up bicycle traffic.

The third motion concerns the inclusion of non-binary individuals. The person submitting the motion requests clarification on which department within the city administration will be responsible for addressing the concerns of non-binary individuals in the future.

In addition to these topics, the meeting will also include a question-and-answer session for citizens, as well as time for other suggestions and complaints.

The Citizens’ Forum is a city council committee of the City of Aachen and serves as a platform for dialogue between citizens, politicians, and city officials. Within this framework, proposals submitted by citizens are presented and discussed jointly with politicians and relevant city departments. The goal is to facilitate technical and political dialogue on the issues raised and to discuss possible next steps.
