Action Day in Aachen: “Heating Cellar of the Future” Provides Information on Climate-Friendly Heating Solutions

On Saturday, September 19, the statewide “Heating Basements of the Future” campaign will make a stop at the “Das LIEBIG” event venue in Aachen. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., homeowners from the Aachen region can get free information and advice on climate-friendly heating solutions. The focus will be on heat pumps, which are central to the heating transition in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The event addresses a particularly pressing need for information: With the new “Heating Act” (Building Modernization Act, GModG) and the federal subsidy program for energy-efficient buildings (BEG), which was revised in July, the landscape for heating system replacements has changed significantly in recent weeks. “Many homeowners are uncertain and are asking themselves: Is a heat pump even suitable for my building? How much will it cost? And what subsidies are still available after the funding cuts?” reports Leila Morgenroth from the Öko-Zentrum NRW, which is organizing the event days. “We’ll answer these and other questions at the event—impartially, competently, and free of charge.”

Tradespeople, energy consultants, local government, and manufacturers all under one roof
. Interested residents can find all the experts they need for a heating system replacement right on site. In addition to tradespeople specializing in heating and electrical work, energy consultants, chimney sweeps, and the NRW Consumer Advice Center will also be on hand to offer their support. Representatives from the City of Aachen and the StädteRegion Aachen—as local partners of the campaign—will provide information on current developments and municipal heating planning. Also participating are the nonprofit association altbau plus e.V. and the local energy provider STAWAG. The exhibition is rounded out by leading heating manufacturers, who will showcase their latest heat pump models.

Focus
on Practical Information and Funding Opportunities
In addition to technical advice, informative presentations will cover selecting the right heating system, an overview of local municipal heating planning, and funding opportunities for implementation—including an up-to-date analysis of the revised legal requirements and funding conditions.

The event is open to anyone interested in Aachen and the surrounding region, as well as anyone who wants or needs to modernize their heating system. Admission is free.

About the “Heating Basement of the Future”
Initiative
The statewide “Heating Basement of the Future” action days are organized by the Öko-Zentrum NRW on behalf of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. The 16 regional events throughout North Rhine-Westphalia are designed to address uncertainties, support local tradespeople and other industry experts, and facilitate direct contact between homeowners and regional implementation partners—ensuring a well-supported path toward climate-friendly heating. Following eight successful campaign days in early summer, the series enters its second round in September and October at eight additional locations in NRW—Aachen is one of them.
