Local Politics for the Week of November 2–8
Three meetings are scheduled for the week following the fall break on the local government calendar.
Wednesday, November 4
The Main and Finance Committee meeting begins at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Aachen City Hall on the Markt. Among other things, the committee will discuss opportunities, risks, and a forecast for the current fiscal year. Particular attention will also be paid to the list of controllable items within the framework of budget consolidation. In addition, the committee will discuss the implementation of the Integrated Concept for Attractiveness and Safety (IKAS).
At the same time—that is, also starting at 5:00 p.m.—the Aachen-Kornelimünster/Walheim District Council will meet at the district office on Schulberg. Three of the agenda items are the administration’s statements regarding a citizen’s petition to suspend planning and conduct a new site review for the new Fire and Rescue Station 2 (South) in Kornelimünster, a citizen’s petition to waive the leash requirement on the field at Prämienstraße/Dinkermichsweg/Hasbach, and the installation of bike racks at St. Rochus in Oberforstbach.
Thursday, November 5
The week will conclude with a meeting of the Mobility Committee together with the AVV Advisory Board, which will also convene in the council chamber of Aachen City Hall. Starting at 5:00 p.m., the agenda will include, for example, an oral report from the state agency Straßen.NRW on current major construction projects, the results and evaluation of feasibility studies conducted to date, as well as a median bus lane in congested areas of Monschauer Straße, or the planning resolution and the allocation of unbudgeted funds for Roermonder Straße based on the results of the public participation process.
