The Future of Forst: City Invites Residents to Four Neighborhood Forums
Forst is becoming more attractive. With support from the state, the city will invest in various neighborhoods—Unterforst, Altforst, Schönforst, Forster Linde, and Driescher Hof—over the coming years. The goal is to revitalize these areas and make them more attractive and livable. From the Rothe Erde train station, along both sides of Trierer Straße all the way to Highway 44, the goal is to visibly improve the quality of life and housing and to noticeably strengthen community cohesion in the neighborhood.
The City of Aachen is now hosting four neighborhood forums to discuss with residents the next steps and planning processes in their neighborhoods. No registration is required. Just stop by!

- Unterforst & Altforst: Friday, November 13, 5:00–7:00 p.m., St. Bonifatius (Mataréstraße 12, 52078)

With the Integrated Urban Development Concept (ISEK) “Zukunft Forst,” the City of Aachen has laid the groundwork for applying for funding from the federal-state “Social Cohesion” program. The Aachen City Council approved the plan on October 14, 2026. The application documents are scheduled to be submitted to the funding agency by the end of October. The city expects to receive approval in the summer of 2027.
The funding program will run for ten years. The City Council’s decision and the upcoming application process are important steps toward advancing the long-term development of Forster’s neighborhoods.
The “Future of Forst” neighborhood vision, which was adopted by policymakers at the end of 2024, serves as the foundation for the Integrated Urban Development Concept. As early as the beginning of 2024, residents were invited to neighborhood dialogues in the various sub-areas of Forst to exchange ideas about projects and contribute their own suggestions to the development process. The format was well received and, in light of this, will now be continued once again to provide information about the Integrated Urban Development Concept (ISEK), which has now been approved by the City Council.
Since urban development funding requires a stronger focus on both spatial and substantive aspects, the findings of the neighborhood perspective were further refined within the framework of the ISEK. The guiding principle developed during the creation of the neighborhood perspective—“In the Heart of Forst | Connecting the Heart | In the Heart of Greenery”—remains the foundation for the ongoing urban development process. The ISEK’s urban development measures focus on Driescher Hof and Schönforst. However, in the other sub-areas—Unterforst, Altforst, and Forster Linde—individual projects centered on the respective neighborhood cores are also intended to improve social cohesion within the neighborhoods of Forst.
