2027 Senior Citizens' Council Election: Candidates Wanted
On April 25, 2027, the election for the Senior Citizens’ Council will take place in Aachen at the same time as the state legislative election. Candidates are being sought in 14 electoral districts.
The Senior Citizens’ Council is elected for a term of five years. All residents of the city of Aachen who have reached the age of sixty by Election Day and have had their primary residence in Aachen for at least 42 days prior to the election are eligible to vote and to be elected. Members of the City Council or a district council are not eligible for election. The Senior Citizens’ Council election is conducted entirely by mail-in ballot.
The Senior Citizens’ Council represents the interests of the older generation before the City Council, the administration, and the public. It appoints knowledgeable residents to various City Council committees, thereby giving the interests of their generation a stronger voice in political decision-making bodies. Service on the Senior Citizens’ Council is voluntary.
As points of contact in your neighborhood, the members of the Senior Citizens’ Council address the concerns of local residents and advocate on their behalf.
