New Contest Supports Volunteer Efforts in the Rhineland Mining Region
The “Mit Tatkraft” ideas contest has been running since October 1—with approximately one million euros awarded each year for project ideas from the region.
Starting October 1, 2026, citizens, clubs, associations, initiatives, and other civil society actors can submit their project ideas for the “Mit Tatkraft” ideas competition. The competition seeks volunteer-led projects that serve the common good, have a lasting impact, and actively help shape structural change in the Rhineland mining region. Approximately one million euros in prize money is available each year for the best ideas.
“Structural change in the Rhineland mining region isn’t determined solely by large-scale investments. It succeeds where people shape their region themselves: in clubs, in their neighborhoods, or in their own communities. A community garden, a new gathering place for young people, a local cultural festival. Ideas like these foster connections, solidarity, and local solutions,” emphasizes Minister Oliver Krischer.
