Last week, around 200 pupils from eight secondary schools in the city region and city of Aachen competed against each other as part of the state school sports festival in Aachen's Waldstadion. With the support of Aachener Turn-Gemeinde 1862 e.V., the youngsters in the U18 (2009 - 2011) and U16 (2011 - 2013) age groups were able to compete in the long jump, ball throw, javelin throw, high jump, shot put and sprint and relay events on the running track.

After an exciting morning, the winners were announced:

• U18 female: St. Ursula Gymnasium Aachen (5,720 points)
• U18 male: Couven Gymnasium Aachen (6,835 points)
• U 16 mixed: Couven Gymnasium Aachen (6,602 points)

These teams can now qualify for the state championships on June 23 in Dortmund if they score enough points in the NRW comparison.

In the U14 mixed (2013 - 2016), the athletics championships of the city region and the city of Aachen will take place at the beginning of June, also in Aachen's Waldstadion.
