The road junction between Schopenhauerstraße and Sittarder Straße has to be closed at short notice due to emergency roadworks. Traffic will be regulated with construction site traffic lights so that two-way traffic can be maintained on Schopenhauerstraße. However, the connection from Sittarder Straße to Schopenhauerstraße is completely closed during the emergency construction work. The traffic regulations have been checked and set up by Aachener Stadtbetrieb and the city's Mobility and Traffic Department. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, May 22.

The reason for the emergency construction measure is two defective manhole covers within the busy junction area that were in danger of collapsing. In collaboration with Regio Netz, it was determined that the entire manhole structure needed to be replaced in order to ensure long-term stability and safety.

Road users are asked to drive around the affected area if possible.
