A wealth of flowers in the city
Whether purple, orange or yellow: spring bloomers are currently shining everywhere in Aachen. Tulips and daffodils in particular are beautifying flowerbeds and green areas. Last fall, around 223,850 bulbs were planted by the employees of the city's green crews: 100,000 daffodils and 18,000 tulips in the city center and 73,500 daffodils and 15,250 tulips in the districts.
"We always get a very positive response to the spring bloomers," says Sabine Meyer-Harms, Head of Operations for Green and Open Space Maintenance at Aachen City Council. "We have therefore increased the bulb planting for 2025. We have deliberately opted for a combination of daffodils and tulips. The delayed flowering sequence of both plants creates a successful contrast with the flowering and color." The majority of the bulbs will also bloom again next year.
