Special operation: public order office detects numerous violations in the city center
On the evening of April 25, the City of Aachen identified violations in the city center as part of a joint enforcement operation with state and federal police as well as other authorities. The city’s enforcement efforts focused on inspecting small businesses such as kiosks and hookah bars. Officers from the Enforcement and Investigation Service (VED) were also active in Aachen’s red-light district on Antoniusstraße. At a kiosk, the Public Order Office seized 47 illegal vapes and 131 packs of so-called “Snooz” tobacco. The sale of these two products is prohibited in Germany. In several other establishments, items including illegally sold nitrous oxide were seized.
Among other things, during the targeted operation, there was one case where it was suspected that an illegal restaurant was being operated without the proper permit. The authorities will now investigate this further. Additionally, violations of the officially permitted opening hours were discovered at an arcade. The Public Order Office then instructed the patrons to leave the arcade, and the establishment was closed.
As part of targeted operations and inspections by the Aachen Police, the Public Safety and Order Division regularly works with other partner agencies to ensure public safety and order and to strengthen citizens’ sense of security.
