Today, Wednesday, March 11, a section of the road on Grüner Weg, at house number 3, subsided. The Aachener Stadtbetrieb road maintenance service had already secured the area; now the emergency construction measures are being implemented as part of the road safety obligation.

Initial findings revealed that the road was washed out in the area, causing part of the road to collapse. No one was injured.

The collapse damaged a drainage pipe of the road drain, which has to be repaired. The road structure can then be rebuilt. The damaged substructure must be replaced before the multi-layer reconstruction of the roadway can take place in order to ensure long-term road safety.

The emergency construction work has already begun and is expected to be completed by Thursday, April 9. During the construction work, the affected section will be closed on one side. Traffic will be guided past the construction site on both sides.
