Aachen City Council at the Euregio Business Show: Focus onthe "Aachen WM Special" and the Olympics
With an impressive equestrian design, the Aachen City Council stand in Hall 3, the hall for service providers and tourism, will be attracting everyone's attention at this year's Euregio Business Show from Saturday, March 7 to Sunday, March 15. This year, the municipal stand will mainly provide information about the "Aachen WEG Special", the varied program with a variety of events as part of the 2026 World Equestrian Games.
Visit from the patron
Anyone who would like to combine a visit to the trade fair with a dialog with the Lord Mayor will have the opportunity to do so on Saturday, March 7, at 12 noon and on Friday, March 13, at 2 pm. Lord Mayor and patron of the business show Dr. Michael Ziemons will then visit the stand and be available for discussions with citizens. On Friday, March 13, the Citizen Participation and Volunteering Department will also be offering advice on how to get in touch with the head of the administration.
"Aachen WEG Special", the supporting program for the World Equestrian Games
2026 Aachen ticks to the rhythm of horses and sport: starting with the referendum on the Olympics in April, the Mini-CHIO in May, the World Equestrian Games in August and the associated colourful supporting program in the city - all of this is also picked up on by the city's exhibition stand.
A 3D printed knight will become part of a giant chess set on the Katschhof in the summer and already adorns the exhibition stand. In addition, the Märkte- und Aktionskreis City e.V., organizer of the supporting programme "Aachen WM Special", will provide information about the stage programme taking place in August. The cultural sector of the City of Aachen and the independent scene will make their contribution to the cultural supporting program accompanying the World Equestrian Games. This will be presented at the show on Sunday, March 8th and Wednesday, March 11th.
Referendum on the Olympics in April
A referendum on the Olympic bid (2036, 2040 or 2044) for the Rhine-Ruhr region will be held in Aachen by April 19, 2026. 17 cities, including Aachen, are applying under the motto "Our cities. Our Games." Around 185,000 Aachen residents are being called upon to vote on the hosting of equestrian competitions and soccer matches. Voting will take place by letter, with a minimum of 10 percent of eligible voters required for the vote to be valid.
Summer vacation at home
The Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e. V. will be presenting its offers for the World Equestrian Games on Friday, March 13th and Sunday, March 15th. But that's not all: on two days, on Monday, March 9 and Saturday, March 14, the aachen tourist service e. v. will be manning the stand and providing inspiration for tourist highlights during the World Equestrian Games as well as for summer vacations in the home region.
Employees from the Citizens' Service will also be available to answer questions at the exhibition stand at the weekends. The Department of Human Resources and Organization will be represented at the trade fair on Tuesday, 10 March, the Trainee and Student Day, and the "Ageing in Aachen" control centre will be present on the Senior Citizens' Day on 11 March.
