Eupener Straße Is Getting a New Asphalt Surface
The North Rhine-Westphalia State Road Construction Authority will complete the renovation of the pedestrian and bicycle path along Eupener Straße (Federal Highway B57) in Aachen later this week. The adjacent pedestrian and bicycle path along the B57, stretching approximately two kilometers between the German-Belgian border and the entrance to the city of Aachen, has been completely renovated in several sections. As part of the renovation, new utility lines were laid beneath the pedestrian and bicycle path.
Starting Monday, June 29, the road resurfacing project on Eupener Straße—announced earlier this year—will begin on the same section of the road. Eupener Straße is expected to be repaved under a full closure to motor vehicle traffic until July 15.
The renovated pedestrian and bike path will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists during the paving work.
Residents within the construction zone will be notified by the contractor via a letter placed in their mailbox that access to their properties will be restricted during the paving work.
Vehicle traffic between Aachen and Belgium is being rerouted from Aachen and in the opposite direction via the following roads: Siegelallee (L260), Monschauer Straße (L233/B258) and Raafstraße/Lichtenbuscher Straße, as well as the Belgian road network.
