Exhibition for the 17th KUNST Children's Art Award: An Imaginative Universe at the Ludwig Forum for International Art
Over the past few months, more than 180 children from the city of Aachen and the surrounding region have been experimenting, painting, and creating art. In the elementary school courses of the “Aachen Model,” a diverse range of works has been created for the 17th Children’s Art Award. From Sunday, June 28, through Sunday, August 30, the Ludwig Form for International Art will present an exhibition featuring the artwork of all participants in this year’s edition. This year, the children have developed an imaginative universe on the theme “In the best of company… with Ebersbach, Graves, Gronemeyer, Jesdinsky, Koons, and Richter.”
A six-member jury has selected six works of art—in no particular order—from among all the entries, which will be honored on Sunday, June 28, at 12 p.m. Admission to the awards ceremony is free.
The KUNST Children’s Award
, first presented in 2009 as part of the Aachen Model, encourages children at participating project schools to bring their creative ideas to life on a multifaceted theme. Since 2010, the Ludwig Forum, with support from the Sparkasse Aachen Community Foundation, has been showcasing the works of all participants in an exhibition. The award winners also take part in a two-day workshop with a renowned artist.
The Aachen Model
: This regional project for the individualized support of gifted students was launched in 2003 at six pilot elementary schools. Today, the Aachen Model is a joint project of the School Authority for the Aachen City Region, the City of Aachen, and the Sparkasse Aachen Community Foundation. The three Sparkasse foundations—the Community Foundation, the Cultural Foundation, and the Youth and Cultural Foundation—have provided financial support for the project since its inception. Currently, 23 elementary schools are participating in the arts program as part of the Aachen Model, which is dedicated to the early promotion of individual talents.
