Mendelssohn, Movies & More: The arcadie Quartet at the Altes Kurhaus
The Aachen-based “arcadie quartett” captivates audiences with its stylistic and sonic diversity, creatively curated programs, and lighthearted presentation. The new program “Mendelssohn, Movies & more” spans the spectrum from Anton Reicha’s virtuoso classical quartet to Bartók’s Romanian Dances and charming arrangements of musical and film melodies. Here, Mendelssohn’s shimmering “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is juxtaposed with Louis Anthony de Lise’s “Dreamstates,” while an imaginary silent film unfolds in Benedikt Brydern’s “Silent Movie.”
Judith Konter (flute & bass flute), Susanne Schrage (flute & contrabass flute), Olaf Futyma (flute and alto flute) and Matthias Schmidt (flute and piccolo) are looking forward to an atmospheric concert in the magnificent setting of the ballroom at the Altes Kurhaus Aachen. They have been delighting audiences here with their musical performances since 2015.
