Music shell: "Pearl in the spa gardens" reopens
On Sunday, June 14, not only the New Kurhaus invites you to an open day after a long renovation period. The music shell in the Kurpark will also be playing again after its renovation. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., there will be a wide-ranging musical program with free admission. This marks the start of a series of smaller afternoon performances (maximum one hour) curated by the event management team within the culture department, with a loose mix of literature, theater, dance, performance, film and cabaret. The revival of the "Perle im Kurpark" offers a stage for cultural events.

Big band fever with plenty of energy—that’s the Walheimer Big Band. Founded in 1973—over 50 years ago—as the Itertal Brass Band, the group has been fully dedicated to big band music in all its forms since the 1990s. Whether it’s classic swing, jazz, pop, and rock, or Latin, funk, and samba—every genre is imbued with their distinctive sound.
The interpreters of classic big band songs range from jazz legends such as Duke Ellington and Count Basie to funk icons such as Tower of Power and pop greats such as Phil Collins. This diversity of influences guarantees a varied and rousing program that will delight every music lover.
Radio Controlled is a young band from Aachen that plays pop-rock with a touch of funk and plenty of groove. They met in early 2023 at a music workshop and have been performing together regularly ever since. Their music is a mix of covers and original songs, which they are currently recording and refining. Their focus is on an honest, handmade sound and a rousing live performance that puts everyone in a good mood.
With their minimalist lineup of guitar and two-part vocals, Junebug in a Jar range from passionate melancholy to rousing pop. Their unique guitar playing and two perfectly complementary voices often convey the deepest of emotions: passion and love, pain and melancholy! In recent years, the duo has played countless live shows. From living room concerts to open-air festivals. In Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. In their current program, the duo combines their own songs with unique interpretations of more or less well-known English and German musical gems.
The Aachen Wind Philharmonic is a young symphonic wind orchestra performing at the highest level. The orchestra, comprising approximately 75 musicians, features woodwinds, brass, and percussion. A large portion of the orchestra consists of students or doctoral candidates from RWTH Aachen University or the University of Applied Sciences. The brass quintet was formed by five musicians from the Aachen Wind Philharmonic and regularly performs on smaller stages and at festive events.
Particular successes were the two participations in the World Music Contest 2017 and 2022 in Kerkrade, the most important competition for wind orchestras in the world. The orchestra last won a gold medal with distinction there in July 2022.
