40 Years of the Jazzotic Big Band: Anniversary Concert with Star Pianist Simon Oslender
Forty years ago, Walter Hennecken founded the Jazzotic Big Band. Since then, the ensemble—operating under the auspices of the Aachen Music School—has continued to evolve, winning numerous jazz competitions, performing with international jazz greats, and establishing itself as a fixture in the cultural life of the Euregion.
To celebrate its anniversary, the Jazzotic Big Band invites you to a special concert at the Saalbau Rothe Erde on Thursday, September 24, at 8:00 p.m. Under the direction of Andi Plum, the band will present a varied program featuring works and arrangements by Sammy Nestico, Peter Herbolzheimer, Gordon Goodwin, and Pat Metheny.
The renowned pianist and keyboardist Simon Oslender has been invited as a special guest. The Grammy-nominated musician is considered one of the most promising figures on the European jazz scene and will accompany the big band as a soloist. In addition to classics from the big band repertoire, the program also features several of Oslender’s original compositions.
The audience can look forward to a concert full of energy, enthusiasm, and musical highlights—one that also offers a glimpse into four decades of successful big band work in Aachen.
Admission is free. Following the concert, the Friends of the Aachen Music School would appreciate donations to support its work.
