Theaterplatz: Construction is moving forward, traffic patterns are being adjusted
Regionetz’s civil engineering work at Theaterplatz is progressing. In the coming weeks, utility line installation work will take place behind the theater. As a result, traffic access to the construction site area will be adjusted starting Monday, July 20. People who need to reach the buildings at Theaterplatz 10–12 and the associated parking spaces (access to the Alter Posthof) can do so via Kapuzinergraben starting then and until further notice. Meanwhile, the areas for delivery and loading, for visitors to the medical offices, and the special parking spaces for people with disabilities will remain at their usual locations on Theaterstraße and will continue to be accessible via Theaterstraße and the Borngasse intersection.
An important message from the city: Everyone will still have easy access to the theater and all the surrounding shops and medical offices! Theaterplatz and parts of Theaterstraße will be redesigned with people in mind from early 2025 through, tentatively, the end of 2028. The new Theaterplatz, as a “stage for everyone,” will feature a large fountain, the Theatergärten, plenty of space for strolling and outdoor dining areas, as well as 29 additional trees, offering a distinctive urban atmosphere and a high quality of life.
