Intersection of Jülicher Straße, Passstraße, and Hein-Janssen-Straße: Traffic lights out of service
Since early July, there have been repeated malfunctions at the traffic light system at the intersection of Jülicher Straße, Passstraße, and Hein-Janssen-Straße. The cause is the system’s outdated technology, which can no longer be reliably repaired. The traffic light system is therefore out of service and will remain shut down until it is replaced in the near future. Repair work is expected to be completed by the end of next week.
To ensure traffic safety at the intersection, the Aachen Public Works Department is implementing an emergency plan developed specifically for this intersection on behalf of the traffic authority. The crosswalks across Jülicher Straße will be closed. Pedestrians are asked to use the nearby crossings at Blücherplatz and at Otto-/Robenstraße. Drivers entering the intersection via Passstraße and Hein-Janssen-Straße may only turn right onto Jülicher Straße. Turning left is not permitted.
There will be no impact on bus service; Line 34 can continue to follow its usual route.
