Fair play, sport and fun: the Aachen elementary school basketball tournament
Respect for each other and fun in sport made for a fair game: the Aachen elementary school basketball tournament took place on Monday, January 26. In the Rombachstraße triple sports hall, 18 teams from 13 elementary school played for victory.
The winners of the tournament
129 children competed against each other in five rounds. The silver challenge cup for first place went to the Korbjäger from KGS Höfchensweg. The fish crew from KGS Am Fischmarkt narrowly missed out on victory. However, the team won the golden trophy for the fairest game with only one foul committed. All participating children also received a free homework voucher.
A breath of fresh air in the organization team
This year, Bastian Rey and Tim Schönborn took over the organization of the tournament. They were able to draw on the experience of Doro Zwingmann, Hans Bohn, Heinz Wagner and Uli Lieser from the last 25 years.
The Aachen Basketball District, represented by Bettina Heß, provided referees and winners' certificates. The sports department of the city of Aachen, represented by Ellen Schartmann, donated leather balls and helped to coordinate the tournament. Tournament benches were organized by the WBV. The winning balls were donated by Spardabank, represented by Mr. Eickdorff, who sponsored the tournament.
