Choral concert "Magnificat" with Ars Cantandi in the Herz-Jesu-Kirche
Under the motto "Magnificat", the Ars Cantandi choir from the Aachen Music School will be giving a concert on Sunday, February 8, at 8 p.m. in the Herz-Jesu-Kirche, Viktoriaallee 55, Aachen.
The program includes sacred a cappella works by Heinrich Schütz, Josef Rheinberger and John Rutter. The selected compositions describe the tension between worldly hardship and the hope of divine assistance in an impressive and at the same time surprisingly contemporary way. This is particularly true of Rutter's "Magnificat", which makes these contrasts musically poignant and comforting to experience.
Some works will be accompanied by the chamber orchestra of the Aachen Music School, which is made up of teaching staff. The ensemble will also perform the sonorous "Antiche Danze ed Arie" by Ottorino Respighi.
Admission to the concert is free, donations are requested.
